Barnsley Road, Moorthorpe, South Elmsall. Moorthorpe was and still is a kind of no mans land between the two villages of South Kirkby and South Elmsall.
Michael Malcolm Walstow was born in Carcroft Doncaster South Yorks in 1936
Moved to South Kirkby in early 1950's married my mother Georgina and had 3 children.
Worked at South Kirkby Coliery for nearly 40 years until the pit closed in late 1980's
Worked on the coal face and worked shifts, he always used to talk of the commradeship down the mine and the laughs he had with his fellow workers, he sadly passed away on 21st May 1992 aged 55 yrs after suffering a massive brain haemorrhage he left behind a widow, two sons, one daughter and 5 grandchildren he has been missed ever since.
