AIR POLLUTION MONKTON COKING PLANT, HEBBURN, TYNE & WEAR.

Air pollution from Monkton Coke Works, Hebburn, South Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, England 9th March 1990.   The coking plant was closed down in 1990 and demolished in 1992. The coking plant is used to produce coke (coking coal) from metallurgical coal. Mrs Clara Green with her granddaughter breathing oxygen stored in an oxygen tank in her living room at home. Her  breathing has been affected by toxic fumes from the Coking Plant.
