Guiser, William Pringle at home in Shield Street,  Allendale. Born in Allendale in 1921, and commonly known as Billy he was the manager of the local Co-op. He shared the house pictured on Shield Street with his wife Marion, and their three children; Cecil, Howard and Neville. Billy was often a 'guiser' and enjoyed the tradition of first footing on New Year's Eve with a group of fellow guisers."<br />
