COAL MINERS MINING in YORKSHIRE 1970s SOUTH KIRKBY COLLIERY

South Kirkby, Yorkshire, England circa 1979. <br />
Children playing in the 'back lane', or 'back alley' a traffic free road between back to back housing. The houses in the foreground of the picture are probably Wesley Street or Burton Street and are still there, but the old outbuidings have gone now. In the far background the Council built "White City Estate" in nearby South Elmsall going up towards Frickley Colliery. ASDA first opened their first store in South Elmsall, West Yorkshire in 1965.
