COLOUR WORKS: MY BRITISH ARCHIVE THE 1980S AND 90S

Much Birch, Herefordshire. 1989<br />
Colettine Poor Clares are an enclosed Catholic order that observe night rising, perpetual fast and the observance of papal enclosure. They go barefoot as a sign of Gospel poverty and in witness to the transcendence of God. Sister Colette reads her bible in her cell. A soft doorstop hangs around the handle to prevent it shutting noisily. On the bed she has placed a crucifix, the image of Christ on the door is positioned at eye level, which she would look at before pulling back the bed covers at night.
