ECO PROTEST AGAINST M11 LINK ROAD EAST LONDON

'George Green', eco protest to save an ancient tree, Wanstead, East London 1993. The M11 link road protest was a major anti-road protest opposing the construction of the A12 Hackney to M11 Link Road, also known as the M11 Link Road, which was part of a significant local road scheme to connect traffic from the East Cross Route to the M11, avoiding urban streets. The focus of the protest was the cutting down of an ancient chestnut  tree on George Green Wanstead.  Eco warriors set up a makeshift camp around the ancient tree. 1990s UK
