IRISH TINKER FAMILY 1970S SOUTHERN IRELAND.
An Irish travellers family. They are pitched at the side of the road.The wagon is a traditional wooden Bow or Barrel topped horse drawn wagon. The McCarthy family depicted here are still, "travellers although these days we do not have the freedom that we would hope to have due to government policies preventing us from practicing our nomadic way of life, they have set constitutional laws since 1963 to restrict our movements and forced us to assimilate into a sedentary way of living.
