LEWES BONFIRE SOCIETIES SUSSEX 1990s

Lewes Bonfire Societies march through the street of this East Sussex town annually on November 5th. A man dressed as the Pope and carrying a flaming cross marches in the procession. The Lewes Bonfire Societies are anti-Catholic, which over many years as been very controversial.  5th November 1994.
