RIGHT TO WORK 1980S UNEMPLOYMENT UK

The People's March for Jobs. Huge crowd protesting against the unemployment rate under the Conservative government. Mrs Margaret Thatcher is depicted with a blindfold. 216,3000 workers were unemployed . 500 unemployed people then started to march 280 miles to London. This huge banner was commissioned, designed and painted by Ian Denning for the Labour party. Ian worked as a designer at the Sunday Times Magazine, The Independent Magazine and finally at Life Magazine in New York. Liverpool, England circa 1981.
