SHETLAND ISLANDS 1970S UK

Haroldswick Post Office, on the Island of Unst, in the Shetland Islands. This is the most northerly post office in Britain, circa June 1988. Postmaster Albert Gray passed away in 1990. Mrs Doris Gray carried on as postmistress until she retired in 1999. Nobody wanted to take on the post office in the community so it actually closed in 1999, seen here with policeman Harry Edwards.
