ST EDITHS HOLY WELL DRESSING KEMSING KENT

Kemsing, Kent, England 13th September 2014. St Mary's Church Kemsing was the birthplace in AD961 of Saint Edith of Wilton an illegitimate daughter of the Saxon King Edgar I. The pilgrimage to the Well at the centre of the village which is dressed every year with a single Well Dressing plaque is unveiled during a short service. The Well is dedicated to her saintly presence; the Well water has healing properties.
