Pipewalk St Mary Redcliffe church Bristol keeping right of way open
Bristol, England 23rd October 2021.
St Mary Redcliffe, church Water Pipe Walk, the original lead pipe runs for 2,750 yards from Knowle Hill to St Mary's Church Redcliffe. The pipe was first laid down in 1190 and replaced in Victorian times with a 4 inch cast iron pipe. The Priest, Churchwardens and Parishioners walk the route of the pipe once a year to lay claim to the church endowments and to maintain the right of way. A manhole cover is lifted and the pipe is viewed.
