Photographers book dummy, On the Road Again. This unique copy contains 30 original black and white images printed by the photographer. The photographs are stuck into a 12x 8 inch blank page book with cowgum. Pencil captions are under most of the images. Created in the early 1980s, I have inscribed the inside front cover, and dated 21/10/1991. "Most of these photographs were taken on a trip across America during the summer of 1969, between the end of the 2nd year at the LCP and the start of the final year. A few of the pictures (deer hanging from tree, Brawley Hotel etc) were taken when traveling with Judy through America in 1971. HWS.”
On the Road Again, is from four road trips by Greyhound Bus across and around America in 1969, 1971, 1999 and 20001. After the 1971 road trip I put the work away for thirty years, and then in 1999 and 2001 I travelled once again by Greyhound Bus and occasional car hire making the same mental journey. (No route planned, I just always caught the first bus out of town going more or less clockwise around the country.) On the third and fourth trip I wrote a word diary about the experience, but never made photographs of the people included in the diary.
