Blackening the bride and groom, a pre-wedding folklore Scottish marriage ritual Mallaig Scotland Uk.
A young couple are driven through the town sitting in a bath tub on the back of a lorry. They are covered in flour and eggs. This pre wedding ritual takes place the day before their marriage and is know as 'blackening' or reschtach, and apparently wards off evil spirits before the wedding.
