Court on a River Barge, Rochester Kent UK 1970s. The ancient Admiralty Court of Rochester, controls the fisheries of the Medway from Maidstone to Sheerness and dates from the 16th century. The court is presided over by the Mayor of Rochester who for the day becomes Admiral of the Medway. The court is assembled in a barge moored off Rochester pier. The jury must be composed of no fewer than 13 fishermen, who are freemen of the river.
