Byker & St. Peters Working Men's Social Club Newcastle upon Tyne 1970s
Saturday night and all dressed up at Byker & St.Peters Working Men's Social Club. At the time, eighteen year old Jacqui Morrison now writes, I was born in Dunston, Gateshead, just on the other side of the Tyne. My friend Hillary Bramwel (behind Jacqui) and I went to see a band we had seen previously, their name escapes me. Hillary and I were both working as apprentices in a Newcastle hairdresser called Grants. A few years later I moved to the Netherlands, got married and had a son. Although never returning to the UK to live I regularly returned to visit my mother / family there and still miss it to this day.
Byker and St Peters Working Men's Club, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, northern England circa 1973.
