Draghunting, Windsor Forest Drag Hounds, Berkshire,
Drag Hunting, Windsor Forest Drag Hounds, Berkshire, England circa 1995. Drag hunting is conducted in a similar manner to fox hunting, with a field of mounted riders following a pack of hounds hunting the trail of an artificial scent.
The hounds are trained to hunt a prepared scent trail laid by a person dragging a material soaked in aniseed or another strong smelling substance. Luke Mitchell who has laid the trail is a little scarred of dogs and the idea of this hunt was to have him overcome that fear. At the end of the hunt the hounds are very friendly.
